Surf's Up: The Notebook Is Ready for the Beach [Infographic]

If you’re headed to the beach this summer, the notebook is the most reliable tech to take with you.

It’s not yet officially summer, but we’re close enough to start thinking about heading out to the seashore for rest, relaxation and sunshine.

Microsoft has its mind on summer vacation, too: The company has put together a handy infographic based on survey data, outlining the way people use technology when they hit the beach. Surprisingly, the faithful notebook PC reigned supreme as the go-to device for travelers, although the smartphone wasn’t too far behind.

Here are some highlights from the Microsoft infographic:

  • 75 percent of respondents plan to take a notebook to the beach.
  • 1 in 3 admitted to using a notebook as an excuse not to socialize while traveling.
  • Men are 2 times more likely than women to spend more than 5 hours on their notebooks.
  • 36 percent of respondents have lost their vacation photos.

Check out the full infographic from Microsoft, below.
