The Future of Travel Is In Mobile Technology [Infographic]

The way people travel has been revolutionized thanks to mobile devices that allow users to plan trips from anywhere at anytime.

If your idea of planning a trip means whipping out your smartphone and heading to TripAdvisor.com, Priceline.com or Orbitz.com, congratulations. You can consider yourself a mobilized traveler.

The ubiquity of online booking and reservation technologies have fueled remarkable growth and interest in online travel in ways that weren't possible before smartphone technology became commonplace. MyDestination.com, an online travel guide, put together an infographic highlighting some of the stats and data on mobile technology's impact on travel.

A few of the highlights include:

  • 3 in 4 active travelers use a mobile device while on the move.
  • 2 out of 3 travelers say they're likely to book, shop or explore travel activities on their mobile devices.
  • $93 billion is the amount of revenue generated by online travel in the U.S.
