As the world converges in London for the Summer Games, mobile tech is hard at work keeping everything connected.

London, the bustling and historic capital of the United Kingdom, is playing host to the Summer Olympics this year and along with the influx of athletes, coaches, spectators and journalists, the city also is being bombarded by the mobile devices each of these people bring with them.

Here are a few highlights:
- 500,000 Wi-Fi hotspots will be set up around London during the Olympic Games.
- 2,500 hours of mobile coverage will be broadcast on tablets, smartphones and connected TVs by the BBC.
- 2,117,180 SMSs can be sent worldwide in the time it takes Usain Bolt to run his 100m record of 9.58 seconds.
