Research shows that mobile users are increasingly making purchases on their devices.
Retailers have good reason to rejoice about the mobile revolution: Sales from mobile-device owners have increased from 2 to 8 percent in the past two years, according to research from Statista.
Statista compiled this data point and more into an infographic on mobile commerce [2] in the United States. Additional highlights include the following:
- More than 40 million Americans visited Amazon via a tablet or smartphone in March 2012.
- 6 percent of visits to online retailers came from a smartphone, as of December 2011.
- 4 percent of visits to online retailers came from a tablet, as of December 2011.
- 87 percent of retailers view tablets as a way to drive revenue and sales.
