Twitter and Vine were buzzing with activity from this year's VMworld. What'd you miss?

Even if you weren't able to attend VMworld 2014, you could have followed along online without missing a beat. Attendees kept social media channels pulsing with activity from the conference.

From breaking news to videos of hijinks, keeping up with the Twitter stream of thousands of IT experts was a Herculean task. Here are some of the social media highlights from this year's conference.

The agency committed up to $250,000 to causes benefiting children, education, the environment, human rights, and women and girls.

Attendees chimed in on the big news of the conference, which ranged from the announcement of EVO:RAIL to VMware's iteration of OpenStack, and a partnership between VMware, Google and Nvidia to forge a new path for the next Chromebook.
